Lithium iron phosphate is the most heat- and abuse-tolerant lithium chemistry, and A123's pouch modules are a long-standing favourite for stationary storage. Twenty-six cells in series, three in parallel. Ships by freight.
Build with a battery management system
Lithium cells pushed outside their voltage or temperature limits can fail violently. Whatever this goes into needs a BMS watching every cell group, and fusing sized to the module. Never mix chemistries in one string, and handle the module by its case. Before you build with lithium.
