New aftermarket vs. the dealer
The dealer sells one pack at one price. Aftermarket manufacturing has changed that considerably — new packs are built for most common hybrids now, they carry their own warranties, and they are available for vehicles the dealer has effectively stopped supporting.
The honest caveat is that aftermarket quality is not uniform. The difference between a good new pack and a bad one is the cell supplier and the battery management, neither of which is visible from a photograph. That is why we name what we sell and stand behind it rather than listing an unbranded pack at the lowest price we can find.

When new is worth the difference over refurbished
- You plan to keep the vehicle for more than about three years.
- Your pack failed in a hot climate, and you would rather start again with new cells than with reconditioned ones.
- Your vehicle uses a lithium-ion pack, in which case new is generally the only sound option.
- You are fitting it yourself and want the smallest chance of doing the job twice.
Fitting it yourself
This is a high-voltage assembly
If you have not worked on a hybrid pack before, the honest advice is to buy the pack from us and pay a local shop to fit it. The labour is a small fraction of what a dealer pack would have cost you, and the orange cabling is not something to learn on.
In the Phoenix metro we fit it at our shop and the installation is included. If you would rather we came to you, mobile install is an extra $250.
