A very large module from Smart #1 pre-production test cars — 16.5 kWh in one piece, which is most of a small EV pack. A ribbon cable carries its cell voltages and temperatures. Ships by freight.
Build with a battery management system
Lithium cells pushed outside their voltage or temperature limits can fail violently. Whatever this goes into needs a BMS watching every cell group, and fusing sized to the module. Never mix chemistries in one string, and handle the module by its case. Before you build with lithium.
