That doesn't mean your pack fails at 150,000 — it means this is the mileage where a diagnostic tells you something useful instead of confirming what you already knew.
The RX is a heavier vehicle than a Prius, and it asks more of its battery on every acceleration. Combine that with Phoenix summers and the aging curve steepens noticeably compared to the same car in San Diego.
How long does a Lexus RX hybrid battery actually last?
It depends far more on where the car lived than on how it was driven. Here is the honest split:

Why does Arizona heat matter so much?
Nickel-metal-hydride cells degrade faster at high temperature, and the degradation is permanent. Two things happen to an RX in Phoenix that don't happen elsewhere.
First, the pack lives in the cabin air path behind the rear seat and is cooled by a fan pulling interior air. When your car has been closed up in a parking lot in July, that interior air is 140°F or more. The fan is moving hot air across hot cells.
Second, heat soak doesn't end when you park. A pack that was working hard on the I-10 keeps cooking for an hour after shutdown in a garage that never drops below 95°F at night.
The practical effect: an Arizona RX at 150,000 miles is often in the condition a Pacific Northwest RX reaches at 200,000. If you bought the car used from out of state, its history matters. If it spent a decade here, assume the pack is further along than the odometer suggests.
What are the early warning signs on an RX 450h?
The failure sequence on an RX is usually gradual and measurable before it's dramatic.
- State-of-charge bars swing fast. The display drops from six bars to two in a mile of gentle driving, then climbs back just as quickly. That's a weak block, not a small battery.
- The engine runs at stoplights more often than it used to, especially when the AC is on.
- Fuel economy slides 3–5 MPG over a few months with no change in your commute.
- Harsher regenerative braking — the transition from regen to friction brakes gets grabby because the pack can't absorb the charge.
- Rear cargo-area fan noise gets loud and constant. The system is fighting temperature.
Then come the lights. The red triangle master warning and a "Check Hybrid System" message usually arrive together. The stored code is what tells the real story.
Which codes should I take seriously?

A P3011-series code is genuinely useful information. It points to one weak block out of the stack, which is the situation where reconditioning has the best odds. A P0A80 on a 150,000-mile Arizona RX usually means the whole pack is near the end.

Should I rebuild or replace?
At 150,000 miles the deciding factor is how long you intend to keep the car.
