Nine of these make the 270 V pack in a 2011–2015 Sonata or Optima Hybrid, and they are bolted in rather than welded, which is what makes replacing one realistic. Two things decide whether it works: the replacement has to be charged to within millivolts of the group it joins before the pack is closed, and the battery management system has to be cleared first. A module reading zero volts in a series pack is almost always the computer misreading it — a genuinely dead group would stop the car.
How this module is tested
- Charged and discharged five times on the bench, with capacity measured across every cycle.
- Graded on that measured capacity — and we tell you the grade. A module that passes one test and fades on the next does not leave the bench.
- Matched against your VIN before it ships, so the module is right for your pack rather than just your model name.
One module is not always the fix
If the rest of your pack has aged, replacing the module that failed first buys weeks, not years. Measure the others before you order. When single modules make sense.
