Honda CR-Z IMA battery diagnosis, repair and replacement across the Phoenix metro. The CR-Z changed chemistry mid-run: 2011–2012 cars use a nickel-metal hydride pack of seven double sticks, and from 2013 Honda fitted lithium, which the nickel module does not fit.

Which hybrid battery does my Honda CR-Z have?

2011 and 2012 cars use a nickel-metal hydride IMA pack; from 2013 Honda fitted lithium. The VIN confirms it, and it decides both the part and whether a module repair is possible.

Can a CR-Z hybrid battery be reconditioned?

On a 2011–2012 car, yes, if the module data supports it. On a 2013 or later car, no — it's lithium and replaced complete.
