Two generations, two packs

Both packs are T-shaped, running down the centre tunnel and across under the rear seat, and both are cooled by liquid rather than cabin air. They are not interchangeable, so the pack is matched to your VIN before anything is ordered.
Symptoms Volt owners report
- Electric range on a full charge well below what the car used to manage.
- The petrol engine starting sooner and running more of the time.
- A “Propulsion Power Is Reduced” or “Service High Voltage Charging System” message.
- P1B70 or other battery sense codes, which on a Volt are often a sensing fault rather than a failed pack.
- Several warning lights at once, which is usually the 12V battery.
